Streets Of Fire

"I like this one."

Although it's not fair when the fuel doesn't show up for two screens, man. I was just running through, not even trying to get any buildings, and the fuel can just wouldn't appear. Made me angry enough to quit.

Turbo Tank

"Good start..."

submission: Turbo Tank

I liked the controls (although it felt a little too floaty at times, considering I'm in a tank), it was kinda fun, but waaaaay too repetitive. You needed a couple different types of enemies in there besides just the big robot and a boss. I also liked how if I tried to move past a robot it telekinetically moved me up and back. Taking away the controls from the player for a short period is fun :).

Anyway, needs more variety.

Try increasing the fps. The game in general moves too slow (even in low quality). Also, your ship moves too slow and shoots too slow to kill anything. I was only able to destroy about 6 ships in the entire fleet that came at me because they had too much health and I shot like a snail (especially compared to them). I didn't really have a problem dodging their fire, but I was going "Damn, this is slow!" the whole time I was moving.

I didn't even bother trying to kill the next set of ships after trying to destroy one of them and using every single shot I could before it went offscreen and still not being able to destroy it.

The boss took about 3 times longer to kill then I had patience for. His pattern was too basic for such a long fight. (Boss fights in simple shooting games shouldn't take over 2 minutes). I realize I had secondary fire, but it seems like I never had any to use.

The graphics are okay, but kinda boring. There's nothing real stylistic or interesting to see in the game. This needs a lot of work before it's fun.

Mini-Putt 3

"Pretty good."

submission: Mini-Putt 3
date: March 9, 2005

New Mini-Putt. Time for another 4 million views.

I really like how the course is laid out like a real life course this time and just moves between holes, and I think the graphics look a lot cleaner this time around, and I notice you've got circular shaped holes now.

However, this could be a lot better. The holes themselves are pretty sub-standard mini-golf design. I've seen much more interesting holes at actual golf courses (in small towns, even). Since this is a computer game you could bend the rules a lot and make them more interactive (maybe a UFO attack blasting in patterns on the hole, or mice scurrying around a mini-cheese maze hole, or something). There was an old Amiga game that did something like that and I loved playing.

Real life holes I've seen (most have at least 2-3 of these types throughout the course): Water hazards, sand traps, launching ramps, moving pistons, pinball reactions (those round and triangle things that shoot your ball if you hit them that I never know what they're called), earthquakes (the path shakes at random times), skeetball-like holes, shooting through waterfalls, and... that's about all I can remember, but it's been about 5 years since I last played a mini-golf course.

I realize it'd be really hard to do, but maybe these could be used as ideas for a future incarnation of the game. Good game though. Wish I had made a game with universal appeal that I could make unlimited incarnations of.

A Demon Tale

"Looks great..."

submission: A Demon Tale
date: March 7, 2005

The animation seemed a little choppy, but I think it might have just been my Firefox eating up all my processor again for leaving it open so long. Looked beautiful, though.

I couldn't really follow what was going on, though, what the message was (if there was any), who these people were, etc. It's not much of a tale, really. Just eye candy. Unless I missed something.

Author's Response:

Nah, the animation is lil on the rough side. Dont think it was your computer at all. ^^;

Your right on the eye-candy remark. I wanted to create a visual feast... my interpretation of the fairy-tale aesthetic.

Captain FooBar

"Not bad for a first game."

submission: Captain FooBar
date: March 7, 2005

I didn't care much for the game itself, but I liked the graphical style and the sounds/music in the game. A couple issues I had was that I seemed to lose life even when I wasn't cleary not near the cats, and the game over screen is way too dark. Otherwise, not bad for a first attempt. Keep making games.

Great game. Love how you've expanded the series and kept it interesting.

I'm stuck though. I just beat the first boss and got the password, but I don't know what to do with it. Help?

FACE: the game

"2 mistakes."

submission: FACE: the game

You committed two sins in making this game that make the main idea behind shooting games (believe it or not, the main idea behind shooting games is evasion, not shooting. Evade bullets so you can shoot more stuff!) impossible. The main character is waay too big and he moves waaay too slow, so you get hit by any bullet that was shot near you because you can't move away fast enough.

Jungle Master

"Ok game..."

submission: Jungle Master

The look and style is awesome, but the controls kinda suck (I jump on the lower level and the crest of my jump hits the turtle on the platform above me and kills me?!?!).

The speed of the guy is a little too slow also. It takes way too long to get from one side of the screen to the other.

If that gets fixed, then the game is still only alright. Not really that interesting of an idea really. I've played about 300 games with an identical concept in my past.
